
Cal Poly in 10th Place Near End of Second Round at Marquette Event

RIVER HILLS, WI -- The Cal Poly men's golf team was in 10th place when play was suspended late in the second round of the Marquette Intercollegiate due to darkness.
Only 19 of the 87 players in the field completed their second rounds Sunday. The remaining 68 players will complete their second round Monday morning, followed by the final round of the 15-team tournament at the Milwaukee Country Club.
After a 74 in the opening round for 51st place, Cal Poly's Jackson Parrish completed a blistering second round in which he carded five birdies and one bogey for a 66 on the 7,101-yard par-70 course. Parrish missed the school record of 64 which has been accomplished three times.
Parrish is at even par through 36 holes of play, tied for third place with four other golfers. The individual leader is Luke Gutschewski of Iowa State at four under par with three holes remaining. Ryan Eshleman of Auburn is second at one under par with three holes to play in his second round.
Northwestern leads the team standings with a four-person seven-over-par total, one stroke ahead of both Marquette and Iowa State.
Cal Poly's other golfers are Drew Kim in 37th place at six over par (he shot a 73 in the opening round), Baron Szeto at seven over par for 45th place (78), Joey Zambri at 12 over par for 73rd place (77) and Ben Quick at 16 over par for 82nd place (76).
Competing as an individual, Luke Adam is tied for 37th place with Kim and six other golfers at six over par (77).
Parrish leads the field in par-4 scoring at two under par and is second with a total of seven birdies so far.
