Mustangs Face First Road Matchups at Air Force, Colorado College

SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly women's soccer program hits the road for the first time this season when visiting Air Force on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 5 p.m. PT and Colorado College on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. PT. Cal Poly (2-2-0), featuring five separate goalscorers through five matches this year, looks to extend a two-game winning streak following successive home victories against Montana (2-1) on Aug. 26 and Sacramento State (4-2) on Aug. 29. Air Force (0-1-1) still seeks its first goal of 2021 after opening the year with a 5-0 loss at Colorado (Aug. 19) and continuing with a scoreless draw against Northern Colorado (Aug. 22). Colorado College (0-3-0) seeks its first points of 2021 following season-opening losses to Northern Colorado (3-1), Colorado (1-0) and Villanova (3-0).

CAL POLY VERSUS AIR FORCE: The Mustangs face Air Force for just the third time in program history and first since a 1-0 road win on Sept. 18, 2009. Cal Poly also won the only other matchup on Sept. 19, 2003, 3-0.
CAL POLY VERSUS COLORADO COLLEGE: The Mustangs have faced Colorado College just once prior, sliding past the Tigers in Colorado Springs on Sept. 20, 2009, 1-0.
TRUCCO SETS SCORING PACE ONCE MORE: Cal Poly's leading returning goalscorer with four from 2019, forward Nikki Trucco once again tops the program in goals and ranks second among Big West Conference players after finding the back of the net versus Saint Mary's (Aug. 22) and Sacramento State (Aug. 29). A starter in all four games, Trucco also leads the program and ranks fifth in the Big West with 10 shot attempts.
ROJAS FUELS WINNING STREAK: The first Mustang with a goal and assist this season after setting up freshman forward Quoya Mann's 64th-minute equalizer versus Montana (Aug. 26) and scoring the eventual game-winner in a 4-2 decision against Sacramento State (Aug. 29), sophomore defender Kylie Rojas was named Big West Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Rojas, who has started all four games for Cal Poly in 2021, recorded a career high five shot attempts against Sacramento State.
UP NEXT (SEPT. 10 AND 12): Cal Poly completes preparations for Big West Conference play with a three-game stretch that begins with home dates against Gonzaga (Sept. 10) and San Jose State (Sept. 12) before the Mustangs visit Seattle (Sept. 19). The matchup versus San Jose State marks Cal Poly's fourth meeting with the Spartans in five years. Meanwhile, Cal Poly faces Gonzaga for just the second time in 26 years.
