Neale Earns Fourth Top-20 Finish in Four Tournaments

FAIRFAX, Calif. -- Cal Poly freshman Nicole Neale is 4-for-4 as a Mustang, posting her fourth top-20 finish in as many collegiate events entered in her young Mustang career.
Carding a final-round 70, matching her collegiate career best, Neal finished tied for 18th place in the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational on Tuesday.
Neale recorded an eight-over-par 224 total, also matching her career best for 54 holes, on the 6,157-yard, par-72 layout. Her final round featured six birdies and four bogeys. Starting on the 10th tee, she birdied three consecutive holes on her back nine (holes 1-3) and finished the round with two more birdies.
Those five birdies improved her finish by eight spots.
Teammate Caroline Cantlay finished tied for 26th place following a final-round 76 for a 12-over-par 228 total while Elizabeth Scholtes claimed 32nd place with a 230 total following her final-round 78.
Also scoring for Cal Poly were Vanessa Wang with a 76 for a 234 total and 44th place and Madi Daniel with an 81 for a 252 aggregate and 66th place.
As a team, Cal Poly finished ninth in the 12-team field with a 54-hole, four-person 51-over-par 915 total. Washington led all the way for the team title with a 12-over-par 876 total while Stanford finished six strokes back. San Diego State was third at 28 over par.
Neale led the field with her 13 birdies over 54 holes. Cantlay was fourth in par-5 scoring at four under par while Neale was ninth at three under par.
After playing three consecutive weeks and four of the last five, Coach Sofie Aagaard's Mustangs take a 17-day break from competition, returning to the course March 26-28 at the Arizona State Invitational on the Papago Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz.
