CAMPISANO, ELLIS EARN FIRST-TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE ACCOLADES: Cal Poly's Sierra Campisano and Abbey Ellis were both selected for Big West All-Conference First Team honors announced Monday. Following the completion of the regular season, the duo is tied with exactly 340 points each through 22 games, precisely even as co-league leaders in scoring, averaging 15.5 points apiece.
Campisano now ranks No. 23 in school history for career scoring, with 839 points as a Mustang. The senior forward from San Diego also currently ranks No. 3 throughout the conference in rebounding (averaging 8.6 boards) and No. 4 in blocks per game (1.1).
Also an all-conference first-team pick in 2019-20, she picked up the Big West Player of the Week award on Dec. 14 following a season-best 31-point showing in a win against New Mexico State. Her .457 field-goal percentage during conference play ranked second around the BWC during league games.
Ellis ranks No. 16 around the country in free-throw percentage, at a league-best rate of .887, and is also No. 36 nationally in steals per game (2.6).
Additionally, Ellis — who sank the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer on Feb. 20 vs. LBSU (later selected by @NCAAwbb as the country's No. 3 Play of the Week) — now ranks 26th in program history for all-time scoring, with 791 career points.
The sophomore point guard out of Australia netted 39 points in a win over San Diego State on Dec. 21, the most by a Mustang since Jan. 4, 2018, an effort which helped her repeat as Big West Player of the Week for Dec. 29.
VICK, BROWN ALSO JOIN TOP-5 CONFERENCE LEADERS: Mustang redshirt sophomore guard Maddie Vick and Cal Poly senior forward Kirsty Brown are also both ranked within the Top 5 across conference leaderboards in 2021.
Vick's assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.6 since league action commenced ranks third throughout the entire Big West during conference play (while she's also No. 14 in the Big West for assists per game, via 2.8).
Brown, meanwhile, currently ranks second in the conference in offensive rebounding, averaging 2.8 extra possessions per game. (During the league schedule, she's No. 1 throughout the BWC, upping her offensive-rebounding mark to 2.9.) Additionally, Brown is also ninth in conference rejections, blocking 0.6 shots per game since Big West play began. Brown's trio of double-doubles in conference play ranks as the fifth-most league-wide.
