Cal Poly Wraps Regular Season with Blue-Green Rivalry vs. UCSB

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly will cap its regular season with the Blue-Green Rivalry this week, as the Mustang women's basketball team hosts UC Santa Barbara on Friday and Saturday. Tip time for both March 5 & 6 is set for 2 p.m.
Although fans are not permitted to attend, both matchups with the Gauchos will be broadcast for free on BigWest.TV from Mott Athletics Center. All live video and radio links can be found on the GoPoly.com schedule page.

BWC TOURNAMENT HEADS TO VEGAS: The Air Force Reserve Big West Basketball Championships, presented by Hawaiian Islands Tourism Authority, are booked for March 9-13 at Mandalay Bay's Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. Seeding to the conference tournament is still very much to-be-determined heading into this final week.
Coming into this weekend, Cal Poly currently holds the No. 6 seed with a .500 league winning percentage (7-7; 11-9 overall), while UCSB is close at No. 7 (6-8; 6-12 overall). For a complete pending game-by-game schedule at the tournament, click here.

CAMPISANO CLIMBS IN SCHOOL HISTORY: Cal Poly's Sierra Campisano now ranks No. 25 in school history for career scoring, with 806 points as a Mustang. Campisano, a 2020 all-conference first-teamer, finds herself among the league leaders in a handful of statistical categories.
The senior forward from San Diego ranks No. 2 throughout the conference in scoring (averaging 15.4 points) and No. 3 in rebounding (8.8). Selected as Big West Player of the Week on Dec. 14, she is also fourth in the conference in blocks per game, at 1.1.
ELLIS RANKS AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS: Abbey Ellis is not only leading the conference in scoring by averaging 15.8 points; she also ranks No. 17 around the country in free-throw percentage at .887, plus No. 44 nationally in steals per game (2.6).
Additionally, Ellis — who sank the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer on Feb. 20 vs. LBSU (selected by @NCAAwbb as the No. 3 Play of the Week) — now ranks 26th in program history for all-time scoring, with 766 career points.
The sophomore point guard out of Australia netted 39 points in the win over San Diego State on Dec. 21, the most by a Mustang since Jan. 4, 2018. That showing helped her repeat as Big West Player of the Week for Dec. 29.
A LOOK AT UCSB: The Gauchos head north on Highway 101 on a four-game winning streak, led by Monday's Big West Player of the Week: senior guard Doris Jones. Jones is averaging 15.3 points per game while shooting 44 percent overall.
Taylor Mole is Santa Barbara's top rebounder, averaging 9.6 boards, while Danae Miller distributes a team-best 4.2 assists per game. UCSB favors the 3-point line, as the Gauchos rank 40th in the country in made 3-pointers this season (draining 8.2 on average) and also are second in the conference in percentage from behind the arc (.345).
VICK, BROWN ALSO JOIN TOP-5 CONFERENCE LEADERS: Mustang redshirt sophomore guard Maddie Vick and Cal Poly senior forward Kirsty Brown also start this weekend both ranked within the Top 5 across a couple conference leaderboards for the duration of 2021.
Vick's assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.4 since league action commenced ranks third throughout the entire Big West during conference play (while she's also No. 13 in the Big West for assists per game, at 2.9 overall).
Brown, meanwhile, currently ranks second in the conference in offensive rebounding, averaging 2.8 extra possessions per game. Additionally, Brown is also just outside the Top 5 in conference rejections, blocking 0.7 shots (seventh-most) per game since Big West play began.
