McNulty, Sytnik Win Multiple Events Saturday at Cal Baptist Invite

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Sophomore men's swimmer Kieran McNulty won three individual events while senior men's swimmer Gennady Sytnik won two events to highlight Cal Poly Saturday at the final day of the Cal Baptist Mid-Season Invite.
The Mustangs had a total of seven event wins Saturday as junior men's swimmers Andre Yarcan and Brian Wong also each picked up an individual win.
McNulty had himself a standout day as he won the 400-yard IM, 200 freestyle, and the 1,650 free. He won the 1,650 free with a time of 15:11.99, the second-fastest time in school history and the second-fastest time in the MPSF this year. It's also the fastest time in Lancer Aquatic Center history. Cal Poly sophomore Joshua Billotte finished second in the event with a time of 16:19.11.
Earlier in the day, McNulty won the 400 IM with a time of 4:00.61 and the 200 free with a time of 1:38.93, the 10th fastest time in the MPSF this year.
Sytnik collected wins in the 100 backstroke and the 200 back. He won the 100 back with a time of 49.10 and the 200 back with a time of 1:47.68, the seventh fastest time in the MPSF this season.
Yarcan took first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:06.23. He also had a third place finish in the 100 breast. Wong won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:49.66.
The Mustang women's swim team was highlighted by junior Kaia Anderson's third place finish in the 1,650 free as well as a fifth place finish in the 400 IM. In the 1,650 free, she had a time of 17:16.23, the fourth fastest time in the MPSF this year. In the 400 IM, she finished with a time of 4:32.09.
In diving, junior men's diver Max Powell had a pair of second place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives while senior women's diver Joelle Weltner finished second in the 1-meter dive.
Overall, the Cal Poly men's team finished the meet second out of five schools while the women's team finished fourth out of eight schools.
The Mustangs will now travel down to San Diego to face San Diego State on Monday at 10 a.m.
