McNulty, Iannaccone Win During Day One of Cal Baptist Invite

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Cal Poly men's swimmers Kieran McNulty and Ryan Iannaccone each picked up an individual win during the first day of competition Friday at the Cal Baptist Mid-Season Invite.
Competing against swimmers from Cal Baptist, Biola University, Linfield University, Concordia University, and UNLV, McNulty took home the crown in the 500-yard freestyle while Iannaccone won the 50-yard free.
McNulty blew away the competition in the 500 free winning with a time of 4:27.42, nearly 14 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. It is also the fifth-fastest time in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation this season.
Iannaccone's won the 50 free with a time of 20.85. The Mustangs had two of the top three finishers in the event as sophomore Justin Mills came in third place with a time of 21.23.
Mills also led off the the Mustang quartet in the 200 free relay that also included McNulty, junior Brian Wong, and Iannaccone. Together, they placed second in the event with a time of 1:22.47.
In the men's 400 medley relay, the quartet of senior Gennady Sytnik, junior Andre Yarcan, Wong, and Iannaccone finished second with a time of 3:21.92.
Sytnik also had a second place finish in the 50 backstroke with a time of 23.66.
On the women's side, junior Amy Harter had a third place finish in the 50 free with a time of 24.07 while competing against swimmers from New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Cal Baptist, Biola University, Linfield University, and Concordia University.
The Mustang men's team sits in second place in after day one of competition with 407 points. Cal Baptist is currently in first.
The Mustang women's team is in fifth place after Fridaywith 147.5 points. New Mexico State is in first.
Competition continues Saturday beginning with the prelims at 9 a.m. and the finals at 1 p.m.
