The Cardinals (4-1) were led by guard Liz Dixon's game-high 15 points. Guard Kianna Smith, daughter of Cal Poly men's basketball head coach John Smith, finished with 11 points and four assists.
For the game, Louisville shot 47-percent from the field to the Mustangs' (0-2) 20-percent.
Cal Poly opened the game by getting out to a quick 4-0 lead. However, that turned out to the Mustangs' only lead of the game as the Cardinals responded with 12 straight points. Cal Poly then finished the quarter on a 5-2 run to make the score at the end of the first quarter 14-9.
Louisville began the second quarter with a 13-3 run and took a 34-16 lead into halftime.
A 14-3 run by the Cardinals started the third quarter. They shot nearly 62-percent in the third quarter and outscored the Mustangs 18-7 to take a 52-23 lead into the fourth quarter.
The #10 Cardinals are the highest-ranked women's basketball team to come to Mott.
Cal Poly will look to get back on the winning track when hosting its annual Holiday Beach Classic tournament Friday and Saturday. The Mustangs will face St. Thomas on Friday at 12 p.m. and Montana State on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Mott Athletics Center. Admission is free for all fans.
