Cal Poly Finishes 2nd (Men), 3rd (Women) in Bronco Invitational

FINAL RESULTS
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Colton Swinth and Xian Shively placed in the top 20 to lead the Cal Poly men's cross country team to a second-place finish in the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara on Saturday at Baylands Park.
Swinth completed the 8,000-meter course in 24 minutes, 9.9 seconds, while Shively was close behind in 24:14.7.
Cal Poly's top five runners finished within 12 seconds of each other en route to 104 total points. Portland State was the team winner with 67 points as its top three runners placed 2-3-5. The Mustangs edged UC Santa Barbara (109 points) in the battle for the runner-up spot and Saint Mary's was fourth with 113 points.
On the women's side, Cal Poly finished third, led by Sierra Brill's 13th-place performance.
Will Fallini-Haas was the third finisher for the Mustang men's squad, placing 24th in 24:20.8, followed by John Bennett, 26th in 24:21.5, and Sam Roth, 27th in 24:22.6.
Rory Smail (37th), Anthony Guerra (40th), Codebo Chapman (41st), Anthony Benitez (45th), Emmanuel Guzman (48th) and Elias Opsahl (99th) also ran for Cal Poly.
In the Open Division, Cayden Hein was 10th in 25:11.5.
Meanwhile, Brill completed the 6,000-meter women's course in 20:48.5 while Schuyler Gooley (21st, 21:03.2), Julia Heckey (22nd, 21:05.3) and Claudia Miller (28th, 21:20.2) also finished in the top 30 for Cal Poly.
Misty Diaz placed 36th in 21:33.2 while Hailey Golmon was 45th in 21:45.6. Completing Cal Poly's performance were Elise Boisvert (49th), Ellie Baxter (64th), Abigail Fletcher (74th) and Nina St. John (111th).
San Francisco won the women's race with 46 points, with Portland State (59) second and Cal Poly (114) third.
In the women's Open Division, Cal Poly's Sydnie Rivas placed sixth in 21:59.6, Amanda Olla was seventh in 22:06.0), Lila Roake finished 12th in 22:59.6 and Aimee Armstrong was 13th in 23:02.0.
Individual winners in the Invitational Division were Nick Randazzo of UC Santa Barbara (23:24.2) in the men's race and Ruby Smee of San Francisco (19:30.3) in the women's race.
Cal Poly competes in the Big West Conference Championships on Oct. 29 at the Wildhorse Golf Club in Davis. The Mustang men's team has won the last four Big West titles while the women's squad has won three of the last five conference crowns.
