Ellis Scores 39 to Lead Cal Poly to 73-63 Road Win at SDSU

SAN DIEGO — By 12:30 Monday afternoon, Cal Poly sophomore Abbey Ellis had been named Big West Conference Player of the Week. By 3:30, the point guard from Australia had surpassed her career scoring high, lifting the Mustangs to a road win over San Diego State. Ellis poured in 39 points at Viejas Arena, boosting Cal Poly to a 73-63 victory over the Aztecs, as she sank 8 of her 11 looks from 3-point range, part of a 13-for-25 overall shooting display.
She also added a 5-for-6 showing at the free-throw line to eclipse her previous high of 37 points during a win against UC Riverside as a freshman.
Redshirt sophomore guard Maddie Vick was also sharp from long range, knocking down 2 of 3 from behind the arc while going 4-of-6 overall en route to 10 points. She also distributed seven assists.
Meanwhile, senior forward Sierra Campisano — who had an 18-rebound game last week — gathered 12 more boards on Monday.
She also added a 5-for-6 showing at the free-throw line to eclipse her previous high of 37 points during a win against UC Riverside as a freshman.
