
Cal Poly Women's Soccer Signs 7 to National Letters of Intent

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly women's soccer program added to its future on Wednesday, as the Mustangs announced the signing of seven incoming student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.
"We are very excited about this incoming class," Cal Poly head coach Alex Crozier said. "They all bring a level of athleticism and soccer IQ that will enhance our current roster. I am looking forward to helping them reach their potential on the field and in the classroom."
Each of the eight additions welcomed to the program are detailed below:
McKenna Carbon • Corona, CA
Santiago HS / Slammers FC
MF/F • 5-2
In addition to starring for the Sharks, Carbon has also played at the ECNL level for her club out of Newport Beach, and has experience in Region 4 of the Olympic Development Program's Cal-South division.
As an All-Big VIII League first-team junior, Carbon helped lead Santiago High to the second round of the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs, culminating a 20-2-6 season which included a 6-0-4 league mark. She was also the recipient of the program's Coach's Award in 2019 after leading the squad in assists.
Her sophomore year (her second as a varsity starter), Santiago finished ranked No. 9 in the entire state on MaxPreps.com, as well as 32nd nationally. Altogether for her first three seasons, the Sharks have gone 60-7-16 (unbeaten at 21-0-9 in league play).
Meanwhile off the pitch, Carbon has also been an honors student participating in National Charity League while earning a Basic Life Support Certification.
Carbon will major in Kinesiology at Cal Poly, with a minor in Business.
Angie Crozier • San Luis Obispo, CA
San Luis Obispo HS / Central Coast United SC
MF/D • 5-7
Crozier, daughter of Mustang head coach Alex Crozier, helped lead the Tigers to the 2019 CIF Central Section Division 1 title.
Winners of three straight league championships — first in the Pac 8 and then last year in the renamed Mountain League — SLO High, coached by former Mustang goalkeeper Brittney Viboch, has compiled a combined 66-8-2 mark overall, including 37-3 in-league.
During Crozier's sophomore season, when she distributed 12 assists in addition to tallying four goals, SLO HS finished ranked 25th across the entire state after advancing to the semifinals of the SoCal Division 2 Regional Tournament, following a trip to the Southern Section championship match.
Meanwhile, in club season, she helped Central Coast United win back-to-back tournaments to end the summer of 2019, including the Surf Cup at the Legends College Showcase in June in Norco, the Davis Legacy Showcase in mid-July and the Surf Cup in San Diego toward the end of July.
Crozier plans to major in Communications at Cal Poly.
Carli Gordon • Visalia, CA
El Diamante HS / Central California Soccer Alliance
MF/F • 5-8
Gordon has tallied 30 goals along with 14 assists the past three years for the Miners.
With Gordon scoring 12 times each during both her freshman and sophomore years for El Diamante High, her squad advanced to the Central Section Division 2 postseason twice following a combined 14-8-2 run in West Yosemite League play.
An All-WYL first-team honoree and captain in 2019, Gordon also has played for the South Valley United club, winning a State Cup in 2015. She also plays volleyball for El Diamante.
An honor roll student and California Scholarship Federation member, Gordon also participates in ASB, choir and the Class of 2020 Club. She'll major in Kinesiology at Cal Poly.
Mary Norman • Tustin, CA
Foothill HS / Slammers FC
GK • 5-7
Norman started in goal for the Slammers' 2018 ECNL squad, and helped the Orange County-based club win the Region IV 2017 National Cup championship.
An Olympic Development Pool prospect, she also played in the SoCal Developmental Soccer League's 2016 playoffs after belonging to Slammers' 2001 Europa roster.
Norman helped Foothill High qualify for two straight Southern Section Division 1 playoffs in 2017 & 2018, as the Knights went 23-17-3 overall with her as a captain. A 2019 first-team All-Crestview League selection, Norman won the league's Defensive Player of the Year accolade as a junior.
Norman, who has coached in the local junior premier league during high school, is also a standout in track & field, as she reached a mark of 29-foot-5 in the shot put last spring.
A scholar-athlete and honor roll member since 2016, Norman was one of two students from the West Coast who spoke on a panel at a 2019 conference held at Stanford to advocate for students and discuss solutions for stress in and out of school.
Norman, who also participated in student mentorship, the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference, School Site Council, The Stacks (serving as president for a club which builds small free libraries in the community), Project Lead the Way and Mock Trial, is a National Honor Society and California Scholarship Federation member. She'll major in Environmental Engineering at Cal Poly.
Kate Reedy • Pleasanton, CA
Amador Valley HS / Pleasanton Rage SC
MF/F • 5-4
Reedy was named the Dons' 2019 Team MVP after leading AVHS to their third straight North Coast Section Division 1 playoff appearance out of the East Bay Athletic League.
An All-EBAL first-team honoree, Reedy also was chosen to the ECNL All-North West Team from 2017-18, and captained her club to the final round of the 2018 American Cup hosted in Seattle. Reedy, who also plays in the NPL, led the Rage in goals scored for 2018.
Additionally, as a sophomore, Reedy scored two goals and had an assist during a season which saw Amador Valley cap a 12-5-5 run en route to a second-consecutive quarterfinals trip.
Reedy, who also participated in National Charity League, LINK, FCA and Every 15 Minutes, will major in Communications at Cal Poly.
Georgia Weeks • Boulder, CO
Fairview HS / Colorado Rapids
F • 5-10
Last year as a junior, Weeks scored 14 goals to lead the Knights to the second round of the CHSAA Class 5A playoffs, finishing 12-4-1 overall, including 8-2-1 in the Front Range League. In addition to first-team all-league accolades, she earned the Best Attacking Player Award.
As a sophomore, with Fairview No. 14 throughout Colorado's statewide MaxPreps rankings, Weeks netted 12 goals plus four assists during another second-round postseason run. She also helped the Knights reach the quarterfinals on the varsity squad as a freshman.
Combined over her three years, Fairview has gone 38-12-2 in all, as well as 27-6-2 in league play, as Weeks entered her senior season with 28 goals & six assists.
In addition to the Rapids' ECNL squad, Weeks also played club soccer for the Colorado Rush Development Academy in Denver, which she led in scoring from 2017-19. She also was on the ODP Region IV travel roster in 2017-18, after playing in regionals from 2016-17.
Weeks, who also participated in her campus' Future Business Leaders of America Club, will major in Business at Cal Poly.
Morgan White • San Diego, CA
Del Norte HS / Surf SC
F • 5-7
White scored 20 goals as a sophomore while leading the Nighthawks to the San Diego Section Division 2 quarterfinals, a year before Del Norte captured the Palomar League title.
Her junior year as a captain, DNHS advanced to the section's Open Division quarterfinals, giving the school a combined 23-11-9 overall mark the previous two years (12-4-2 in league play).
White also has distributed 10 assists her first three years on the varsity level. During club season, she helped lead the Surf to a No. 2 national ranking on the way to the ECNL Finals, plus claiming four Manchester Cups.
In addition to coaching at YMCA and refereeing youth soccer, White also ran track at Del Norte, clocking a time of 12.8 in the 100-meter dash as a freshman.
A scholar-athlete honor roll student who also participated in Silver Screen Club, National Charity League (volunteering more than 450 hours) and Link Crew, White will major in Communications at Cal Poly, along with a minor in Psychology.
Ella Mitchell • Paso Robles, CA
Paso Robles HS
Ella Mitchell joins the Cal Poly class through Team IMPACT. Ella — No. 44 with the Mustangs — comes to Cal Poly in association with the national nonprofit that connects children facing illnesses with college athletic teams, forming lifelong bonds.
Ella, who overcomes epilepsy, attends practices, Mustang games, team functions, events and more. Ella, who has also refereed in AYSO for years, is set to be a junior Bearcat in the year ahead.
In addition to contributing to the program, Ella's family sees the IMPACT partnership with Cal Poly Soccer as an opportunity to spread awareness about epilepsy, and to be advocates for Ella and others who face the daily challenges of living with the neurological disease.
