TEMPE, Ariz. — A fall by Dominic Kastl and a decision by Travis Berridge were all Cal Poly could muster in a 30-9 loss to Arizona State in a Pac-12 dual meet broadcast by the Pac-12 Networks on Monday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena.
After Arizona State won the first five bouts to go ahead 18-0, Berridge earned a 4-3 decision over Jacen Petersen at 165 pounds, improving to 17-13 for the season.
Kastl (pictured at right) pinned Kevin Radford in 6 minute, 46 seconds, for his fifth fall of the season at 174 pounds. Kastl is now 15-5 for the year.
There were three other bouts that could have gone either way, including the final match as Arizona State heavyweight Chace Eskam earned a 2-1 overtime decision over Nicolas Johnson.
Sun Devil 157-pounder Gene (Oliver) Pierce edged Colt Shorts 4-3 while Arizona State 149-pounder Christian Pagdilao was a 2-0 winner over Blake Kastl.
Joshua Dasilveira earned a pin a 197 pounds while Arizona State won by medical forfeit at 141.
Cal Poly finishes the dual meet season with a 3-15 record and begins preparations for the Pac-12 Championship, scheduled for Sunday, March 1, at Oregon State in Corvallis, Oregon.
