
Cal Poly Rolls to 33-3 Dual Meet Victory Over Grand Canyon

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Yoshito Funakoshi won by fall while Colt Shorts, Nick Fiegener and J.T. Goodwin recorded major decisions as Cal Poly earned its third dual wrestling meet victory of the 2014-15 season Sunday night, defeating Grand Canyon 33-3.
Funakoshi (pictured at right) pinned Jacob Reyes in 4 minutes, 29 seconds, in the opening bout (125 pounds) and the Mustangs won eight more in a row to improve their dual meet mark to 3-14.
Shorts earned a 12-4 decision at 157 pounds, Fiegener was a 13-3 winner at 184 and Goodwin won his 197-pound bout by a 13-1 count.
Winners by decision for Cal Poly were 133-pounder Victor Trujillo, 141-pounder Colton Schilling, 149-pounder Blake Kastl, 165-pounder Travis Berridge and 174-pounder Dominic Kastl.
Grand Canyon's lone win came in the final bout as 285-pounder Marcus Haughian earned a 2-0 decision.
Cal Poly's final dual meet of the season will be wrestled Monday night at Arizona State on the Pac-12 Networks.
