
Cal Poly Third After Two Rounds of Play in Matador Invitational

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – The Cal Poly women's golf team is third among eight schools competing in the Matador Invitational on Monday at Wood Ranch Golf Club.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs carded a four-person 306 in the morning round and 311 in the afternoon round for a 41-over-par 617 total.
Host Cal State Northridge leads with a 590 total while Brigham Young is second at 612.
Cal Poly's Taylor Yoshitake is tied for sixth place in the individual standings after posting back-to-back 75s for a six-over-par 150 total. Entering Tuesday's final round at 7 a.m., Yoshitake is six strokes behind a trio of golfers tied for first place – Victoria Morgan of USC and Clariss Guce and Arinda Bhakaraksa, both of Cal State Northridge.
Mustang Madison Hirsch is tied for 12th place with rounds of 72 and 82 for a 154 total while Morgan Thomas is tied for 20th place with a 156 total following rounds of 76 and 80.
Other Mustang scores were an 83 and 74 for a 157 total by Jamie Corr for a 23rd-place tie and an 85 and 89 for a 174 total by Alex Phillips for 50th place.
Three other Mustangs are competing as individuals. Asia Adell carded rounds of 82 and 80 for a 162 total and a tie for 32nd place while Giovanna Ascolani posted an 86 and 81 for a 167 total and a tie for 42nd place. Montana Kosty checked in with an 85 and 84 for a 169 total and a tie for 45th place.
