A 73 by Binns Lifts Cal Poly to Sixth-Place Tie in Pat Lesser Harbottle Invite

LAKEWOOD, Wash. — A final-round 73 by Jamie Binns lifted the Cal Poly women's golf team into a sixth-place tie in the 13-team Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational hosted by Seattle University on Tuesday at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club.
Binns finished with a 54-hole 233 total on the 6,086-yard, par-72 course for 27th place in the two-day tournament.
Madison Hirsch (pictured at right) was Cal Poly's top finisher, carding a 78 for a 13-over-par 229 total and 19th place. Desiree Gillaspy posted a final-round 80 for a 231 total and 22nd place.
Also scoring for Cal Poly were Sophie Bergland with a 78 for a 236 total and 32nd place, and Jamie Harada with an 81 for a 241 total and 51st place.
Individual winner was Jing Yan of Washington, who defeated Charlotte Jaengkit of Grand Canyon on the first playoff hole. Yan made par on the par-four 10th hole and Jaengkit carded a bogey.
Both Yang and Jaengkit finished with one-under-par 215 totals, two shots ahead of Jennifer Yang of Washington and Charlotte Thomas, also of Washington.
Washington golfers finished second through sixth to claim the team title with a one-under-par 863 aggregate, 34 shots better than runner-up Washington State. Grand Canyon finished third.
Cal Poly matched Idaho's 928 total for a sixth-place tie.
Gillaspy finished 12th in the field in par-3 scoring at one over par and carded 35 pars, eighth in the field. Binns and Hirsch both posted 34 pars.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs return to action Oct. 20-21 at the Colby Invitational hosted by Santa Clara at the Spring Valley Creek Golf Course in San Jose.
