Cal Poly Women's Soccer Undefeated in Conference Play
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.- Cal Poly Women's Soccer recorded its second shutout of the season against UC Davis Sunday afternoon. The fast paced, physical match ended with Cal Poly on top 1-0.
The Mustangs were the first on the board when freshman Elise Krieghoff made the most of a rebound and was able to bury the ball in the back of the net. Krieghoff took a total of four shots on the day, two shots on goal. In the first period, Cal Poly took eight shots to UC Davis' three.
Today's win was goalkeeper Alyssa Giannetti's second shutout of the season. Her first came against CSU Bakersfield on August 19th. Gianetti made a total of four saves.
Four yellow cards were issued during the match, two for each team.
Cal Poly next hits the road for two conference games. The Mustangs face UC Irvine on October 5th at 7 pm and Long Beach State on October 7th. The time of the Long Beach State game has changed and will now take place at 3 pm.
