
Cal Poly Women's Soccer Drops Game to Fresno State, 2-1

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.- Cal Poly suffered a 2-1 loss to Fresno State Sunday afternoon giving the Bulldogs their first win of the season.
Cal Poly was on the board first when freshman Elise Krieghoff scored off a penalty kick in the 14th minute of the game, 1-0. Krieghoff would take a total of four shots in the first half. Cici Kobinski and Sara Epps each took two shots. Fresno State would tie the game when Morgan Castain would strike the upper right corner off a pass from Vanessa Gonzales, 1-1.
Less than a minute into the second half, in the 45th minute, Fresno State took the 2-1 lead. Fresno State's leading scorer, Callie Hancok found the back of the net with an assist from Meagan Mossman.
Cal Poly goalie, Alyssa Giannetti, made eight saves on the day. Cal Poly took 16 shots, six on goal. Fresno State took 17 shots with 10 on goal. Cal Poly's record now drops to 3-5-1 and Fresno State improves to 1-6-3.
Cal Poly next faces Pacific on September 28th for a 7 pm game in their first Big West Conference game of the season.
