
Cal Poly FInishes 11th in Wyoming Desert Cowgirl Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Freshman Madison Hirsch carded a 75 to help the Cal Poly women's golf team jump two positions into a final 11th-place finish in the Wyoming Desert Cowgirl Intercollegiate, which finished a two-day 54-hole run Sunday afternoon at The Classic Club/Troon Golf Course.
Taylor Yoshitake contributed a 77, Asia Adell 78, Drew Thomas 79 and Kirsten Locke 80 for a final-round four-person 309, the seventh-best round of the day among the 19 schools competing.
Adell finished in a tie for 21st place with her 228 total while Locke was tied for 45th (237), Hirsch tied for 55th place (240), Thomas tied for 69th place (243) and Yoshitake tied for 79th place (245).
Cal Poly compiled a 54-hole 942 total. Fresno State won with a tournament-record 21-over-par 885 total, followed by College of Charleston (898) and Cal State Fullerton (899).
Individual winner was Kathy Boehm of College of Charleston with a final-round 75 and an even-par 216 total, one shot ahead of Fresno State's Madchen Ly, who shot a final-round 70. Bulldog teammate Christine Uhalde, the second-round leader, settled for third at 218 following a final-round 78.
Competing as an individual, Cal Poly's Morgan Thomas placed in a tie for 49th place with rounds of 79, 79 and 81 for a 239 total.
Cal Poly returns to action Oct. 22-23 at the Santa Clara Colby Invitational on the Silver Creek Valley Golf Course.
