
Held's Two Goals Lift Women's Soccer to Win over Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – Kacey Held came off the bench to score two first half goals to lead the Cal Poly women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Pacific in a Big West Conference game on Sunday in Stockton.
With the win Cal Poly improves to 9-8-1 overall and 3-4-0 in conference games while Pacific falls to 8-7-1 and 2-3-1.
Held's first goal came in the 38th minute when Jess Duller placed a corner kick in front of the goal with Leslie Barkmann defecting it to Held who placed the ball into an open net.
Held's second goal came in the 42nd minute of play when she fired a shot from 15 yards out that glanced off the left post and into the net.
In the 65th minute, Pacific cut the lead in half when Brittni Beeman headed a ball for a goal off a corner kick by Angelica Figueroa.
Pacific would take seven more shots in the final 25 minutes of play with Cal Poly goalie, Brooke Gauvin, making three saves, the last coming in the 87th minute when Alex Topp placed a header on goal.
Pacific outshot the Mustangs 19-11 with the Tigers recording seven shots on goal. Cal Poly had two shots on goal with both finding the back of the net.
Gauvin recorded six saves in the win for the Mustangs.
Cal Poly was whistled for 11 fouls while Pacific was called for six. Both teams had three corners.
