
Cal Poly Women Swimmers Fall to San Diego State, 168-130

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Junior Angie Haven was a double-winner and Cal Poly won seven of the 16 events but fell 168-130 to San Diego State in a non-conference dual swmming and diving meet Friday afternoon at the Anderson Aquatic Center.
Haven touched the wall first in both the 100 breaststroke (1:04.94) and 200 breaststroke (2:18.96) and also placed third in the 100 butterfly (57.95).
Senior Gloria Benefield won the 200 backstroke (2:02.39) and was second in the 100 backstroke (57.36) while Lacey Buck, another senior, placed first in the 500 freestyle (5:01.03) and third in the 200 freestyle (1:54.57).
Kylie France won the 400 individual medley (4:27.60) and was second in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.96) while freshman Belen Enguidanos placed first in the 200 butterfly (2:01.44) and finished fourth in the 100 butterfly (59.25).
Cal Poly also won the 200 freestyle relay as Rachel Cleak, Kelsey Engel, Amy Morales (pictured at right) and Jill Jones turned in a winning time of 1:37.40.
Katrina Anderson placed second in the 200 backstroke (2:05.35) and fourth in both the 200 freestyle (1:55.03) and 400 individual medley (4:33.42).
Morales (24.43), Cleak (24.68) and Engel (24.80) placed second, third and fourth respectively in the 50 freestyle. Cleak (52.70) and Morales (53.49) also placed third and fourth respectively in the 100 freestyle.
In diving, Sami McIntyre placed third off the one-meter board (230.20 points) while Meaghan O'Meara finished third off the three-meter board (240.90).
Cal Poly and San Diego State compete in another 16-event dual meet Saturday at 10 a.m.
