
Poor Shooting Downs Mustangs, 80-45

MALIBU, Calif.– The Cal Poly women's basketball team struggled from field shooting 27 percent in a non-conference 80-45 loss to Pepperdine on Monday. The loss snaps a two game winning streak for the Mustangs (4-6) while Pepperdine improves to 7-5.
The Mustangs were 17 of 64 from the floor and made only three of 15 from long range. Pepperdine shot 46 percent from the floor and made 40 percent (eight of 20) from beyond the arc.
Cal Poly was led by Caroline Reeves with 12 points. Reeves was the lone Mustang in double figures when she hit five of 13 field goals. Jonae Ervin came off the bench to add seven points.
Rachel Clancy led the team with 10 rebounds, but was only two of 11 from the floor and zero of six from long range.
Pepperdine was led by Jazime Jackson's 16 points. Jackson was one of four Waves in double figures. Robie Mayberry added 15 points with Lauren Bell and Katie Menton each chipping in with 11.
Pepperdine outrebounded the Mustangs 48-35 and had one less turnover (25-26).
The Mustangs will be off until December 30th when the team will host Santa Clara for their final non-conference tune-up before opening the Big West Conference season. Tip is set for 4:30 pm.
