Sandy Aughinbaugh became one of Cal Poly's most outstanding student athletes as a member of the Division I Mustang women's volleyball team. She was twice named Cal Poly Team Athlete of the Year, was a three-time U.S. Volleyball Association All-America selection, and was the U.S.V.B.A Player of the Year in 1983.
Sandy represented the United States in the World University Games in Romania in 1981 and was a member of the United States Olympic Volleyball Team in 1985 and 1986. She played for the professional New York Liberties for two years and was named an All-Pro player. She has played in numerous beach and indoor tournaments and has won two national championships in her Women's 35's division.
In 1998 Sandy graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law and passed the California Bar Exam. In 1994 she became a partner in the San Luis Obispo law firm, Farmer & Ready. In 1999 she opened her own law firm in San Luis Obispo. Recently she authored a portion of a book about law. In 1990 she married Dana Fahey, a Cal Poly graduate, with whom she has two children. She enjoys coaching in her spare time.
