Cal Poly Athletics Hall of Fame

- Induction:
- 1999
In the tradition-rich history of Cal Poly baseball, where teams have captured numerous conference and regional championships, and individuals have gone on to continue their career at the professional level, nobody represented Cal Poly baseball better than Berdy Harr.
An assistant coach from 1969-71, Harr was head coach from 1972-83, recording over 200 wins in his 11 years mentoring the Mustangs. Leading the Mustangs to SCBA and CCAA Conference titles, including a 41-win season in 1977, Harr remains one of the all-time winningest coaches in school history with a record of 297-249-5 for a winning percentage of.544.
With an outstanding work ethic, Harr coached Ozzie Smith and Mike Krukow who enjoyed successful careers at Cal Poly before continuing on at the professional level. Many of his other players signed professional contracts and continue to work in baseball today.
Berdy passed away in 1990. He is survived by his wife Jeannie and two daughters, Gina and Angela.
