2012-13: A brilliant true freshman season with 29-9 record, three falls and a Pac-12 title at 133 pounds ... also placed first in Keystone Classic and California Collegiate Open while placing third in Las Vegas Invitational ... also went 4-2 in Roadrunner Open and 2-2 in Reno Tournament of Champions ... became Cal Poly's 25th Pac-12 champion with a 5-2 decision over Brian Owen of Boise State ... named Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year ... 8-3 in dual meets ... won eight straight matches in late November and seven in a row late in the season before dropping pair of close decisions -- 6-4 to Geoffrey Alexander of Maryland and 4-3 to Brandon Gambucci of Duke -- in NCAA Championships ... earned five major decisions ... two of his three falls were in first period.
