Matt Kuelpman is in his first year as an assistant coach with the Cal Poly volleyball program. He was hired by head coach Sam Crosson in July of 2018.
Kuelpman previously served as a coach at Harvard-Westlake High School in multiple capacities from 2016 until July 2018, serving as boys junior varsity head coach, girls freshman head coach and varsity scout in addition to being the head boys varsity coach.
From 2015 through July of 2018, he was also the head coach of Loyola Marymount's men's and women's club volleyball teams. He was also a volunteer assistant for the Lions' NCAA women's volleyball team in the spring of 2016.
Kuelpman originally hails from Villa Park, California and attended Orange Lutheran High School where he played volleyball all four years before graduating in 2011. He then went on to Loyola Marymount University where he played on the men's club volleyball team for four years, serving as captain his senior year. He was also named LMU Club Sports Male Athlete of the Year in 2015. He graduated in May of 2015 with a Bachelors in Business Administration.
He was already familiar with the Mustangs as his brother went to Cal Poly, graduating in 2013.
