Ashlee Stewart, who ranks No. 4 in school history for career assists, returned to Cal Poly ahead of the 2019-20 season, joining the Mustang Women’s Basketball program as an Assistant Coach.
As a senior in 2010, Stewart ranked No. 11 nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3) while leading the Mustangs to their second straight 11-5 record in conference play.
Upon her graduation from Cal Poly with a Kinesiology and Exercise Science degree in 2011, Stewart’s 380 career assists were just 10 back from the school record.
Stewart coached as an assistant at Cal State Monterey Bay from 2015-18, primarily focusing on guard development for the Otters, in addition to being involved in film breakdown, travel coordination and organizing the program’s community service activities. In 2018, she helped CSUMB’s Aubri Smith earn All-CCAA Honorable Mention out of the backcourt, after mentoring Victoria Dorn to the same accolade the previous year.
A 2007 All-Big West Freshman selection, Stewart graduated having played in 119 career games at Cal Poly. She was also the starting point guard for the 2009 Mustang squad that tied the single-season program record for wins (21).
From Bakersfield, Calif., Stewart graduated from Stockdale High as the Mustangs’ all-time leading scorer (1,491 points) in addition to establishing a CIF Central Section record for assists (833), while earning All-Southwest Yosemite League honors every season. She was also selected to CalHiSports’ 2006 All-State Team.
