2012-13 -- Closed freshman season by posting the team's highest finish during the Pac-12 Championships, where he came in ninth place in the 1,650-yard freestyle, with a time of 15:27.62 … his time met the B standard in qualifying for the NCAA Championships … other season highlights included clocking a 4:28.26 (best on the team) in the 500 free, a 9:26.66 in the 1,000 free and a 1:40.88 in the 200 free, all recorded Nov. 15 at the Arena Invitational in Long Beach.
Prep -- Swam for the first three years at Sheldon High School in Sacramento before graduating from Arroyo Grande High School … as a junior for Sheldon, he won the 200 freestyle (at 1:40.38) and 500 free (4:29.12) titles at the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships; both of those times earned NISCA/Speedo All-American honors, with the latter ranking No. 37 in the country … broke the Delta River League record in the 200, and also set a school record in the 500 … also won the 500 free title as a sophomore for the Huskies at the section finals, and added a second-place finish in the 200 … earned Scholar-Athlete distinction … also considered attending UC Santa Barbara and TCU, but chose Cal Poly because, he says, "I love the area and the team, and it's a great school."
Personal -- Born Eric Fierro on June 3, 1994 in Santa Clara … parents are Eric and Julie … has a sister, Rachel … also enjoys surfing … is majoring in biological sciences.
