- Student Manager
Vance Millwee is in his second year as a student manager with the Cal Poly men’s basketball program.
In his capacity with the Mustangs, Millwee helps facilitate the infrastructural set up and breakdown before and after practices; assists staff and players with logistical requirements and helps in the recording and processing of game and practice film. Millwee is also the host of the Mustang Manager podcast, which features interviews with Cal Poly men’s and women’s basketball players, coaches and staff.
Millwee transferred to Cal Poly from Taft Community College (Taft, Calif.). A two-year member of the golf program at Taft JC, Millwee ranks second all-time in program history with two career tournament wins, was a 2018 All-Central Valley Conference first team selection with a scoring average of 76.4 and a two-year captain.
Majoring in agricultural business, Millwee is a third generation Cal Poly student following his father, Mitch (1984-86), and grandfather, Dick (1959-60) – both of whom played football for the Mustangs. Dick Millwee decided to leave the football team just months before the 1960 plane crash that killed 22 people, including 16 of his former teammates.
The son of Mitch and Teresa Millwee, Vance has one brother, Travis, who played golf for Cal State Bakersfield (2014-16). Vance Ray Millwee was born on July 29, 1997 in Bakersfield, Calif.
