SAN LUIS OBISPO – After capturing his first career title at CSUN’s Bill Cullum Invitational (Feb. 2-3) and enjoying another top-20 showing at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate (Feb. 23-25), freshman Rafael Bobo-Lloret was named Big West Golfer of the Month for February on Thursday afternoon.
Playing just his fourth collegiate tournament at CSUN’s Bill Cullum Invitational, Bobo-Lloret finished with an even-par 216 (73-69-74) that included seven total birdies to split the title with Utah Tech’s David Liechty. Bobo-Lloret’s championship marked the fifth individual title by a Cal Poly men’s golfer in the past four years.
Three weeks later, Bobo-Lloret finished 17th at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate with a three-under 213. Recording two rounds under par and one even, Bobo Lloret produced 11 birdies at the Classic Club in Palm Desert.
Entering Cal Poly’s next tournament, San Diego’s R.E.L. Invitational (March 9-10), Bobo-Lloret leads Cal Poly with a 72.7 stroke average and ranks second with four rounds under par.
