
No. 4 Mustangs Extend Win Streak to Nine with Pair of Sweeps Saturday

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly beach volleyball continued its dominant run, sweeping both Oregon and Santa Clara Saturday to close its first home event of the season, the Mustang Roundup.
The No. 4 Mustangs beat both the Ducks and Broncos by scores of 5-0 to push their win streak to nine in a row and push their overall record to 14-2 on the season. 13 of Cal Poly’s 14 wins this season have been via sweep. In all four matches this weekend, Cal Poly won all five courts in straight sets.
The No. 1 pair of Erin Inskeep/Ella Connor as well as the No. 2 pair of Logan Walter/Izzy Martinez continued their stretch of dominant play with each improving their records to 15-1 on the season with two more victories. With her two wins today, Inskeep reached 75 career victories.
At the No. 3 spot, the duo of Quinn Perry/Ashleigh Adams remained perfect together with two more wins, improving to 10-0. At the No. 4 spot the pair of Julia Westby/Elise Lenahan also stayed unbeaten at 9-0 with two wins Saturday.
Mustang head coach Todd Rogers used two different pairs on the day at the No. 5 spot. Against Oregon, he put Peyton Dueck and Bailey Showalter together there. They picked up a 21-9, 21-16 victory for their first win as a duo this season.
Against Santa Clara, Rogers went back to Hannah Byers and Maddy Byrne at the No. 5 spot. They won their match 22-20, 21-14 to stay undefeated together at 8-0.
Next weekend, Cal Poly heads down to Long Beach for the Big West Challenge March 21-22. There, they will face every Big West team with three matches each day.
