SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Conrad Bernstein has been named the Big West Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
The honor comes on the heels of a stellar performance by the El Segundo, Calif. native at the Gaucho Relays on Friday night — the first meet of the outdoor season for the Cal Poly track and field team.
In his first action as a Mustang, Bernstein showed out in the men’s javelin, launching the fourth-best mark in school history (229 feet, 2 inches; 69.84 meters) to win the event. The mark is currently the best in the Big West and the nation so far this outdoor season.
Bernstein, a redshirt junior, transferred to Cal Poly over the offseason after spending three years at Long Beach State and qualifying for the NCAA West Preliminaries in the javelin in 2024, and placing third in the event at the Big West Championships that season.
Cal Poly continues its outdoor season this Friday when the distance team competes in the Aztec Distance Carnival hosted by San Diego State.
