
No. 3 Mustangs Finish Battle for LA with Saturday Split

LOS ANGELES — Cal Poly beach volleyball finished off the Battle for Los Angeles Saturday with another split day, falling to No. 4 USC before sweeping Concordia Irvine.
The No. 3 Mustangs fell to the No. 4 Trojans 4-1 before bouncing back with a 5-0 defeat of Concordia Irvine.
In the match against USC, it was Cal Poly’s No. 1 pair of Erin Inskeep and Ella Connor getting the Mustangs’ lone victory. They pulled out a hard fought win over USC’s Zoey Henson and Sarah Wood 30-28, 21-11.
Against Concordia, it was the duo of Izzy Martinez and Logan Walter at the No. 1 spot collecting the victory. They are now 7-1 together on the season so far. Connor and Inskeep picked up another win, this time at the No. 2 spot to also move to 7-1 on the season.
At the No. 3 spot, it was Quinn Perry and Ashleigh Adams winning to move to 3-0 together as a pair. At the No. 4 spot, Emma Zuffelato and Faith Bartlett winning together in their first time pairing together. The sweep was rounded out by the No. 5 pair of Hannah Byers and Maddy Byrne winning in their first match playing together.
Cal Poly, now 6-2 on the season, next heads to Conway, South Carolina for the Chanticleer Challenge March 6-7. There, they will take on No. 19 Georgia State, Coastal Carolina, Tulane, and No. 14 FAU.
