
No. 3 Mustangs Split Pair of Matches Friday at Battle for LA

LOS ANGELES – Cal Poly beach volleyball splits its first two matches of the Battle for Los Angeles Friday, sweeping Boise State before falling to No. 2 UCLA.
The No. 3 Mustangs started the day by taking down the Broncos 5-0. They then fell to the No. 2 Bruins 4-1 to end the day.
Against Boise State, Cal Poly won all five matches in straight sets. The No. 1 pair of Ella Connor and Erin Inskeep, the No. 2 pair of Logan Walter and Izzy Martinez, the No. 3 pair of Julia Westby and Ashleigh Adams, the No. 4 pair of Quinn Perry and Elise Lenahan, and the No. 5 pair of Peyton Dueck and Katie Clevenger all collected wins.’
Against No. 2 UCLA, the Mustangs went up 1-0 to start the match after a win at the No. 2 spot by Walter and Martinez. Three of the other four matches went to three sets. However, the Bruins came out on top in all four of them to win the dual.
Cal Poly continues the Battle for LA Saturday with matches against No. 4 USC at 10 a.m. and Concordia University Irvine at 12 p.m.
