
No. 3 Mustangs Finish Opening Weekend with Two More Sweeps

HOUSTON — Cal Poly beach volleyball continued its exceptional opening weekend play going Saturday with two more sweeps in Houston at the Third Coast College Classic.
The No. 3 Mustangs (4-0) collected 5-0 wins over both Tarleton State and Southern Miss to wrap up the opening weekend of play 4-0 without dropping a single set all weekend.
The duos of Ella Connor and Erin Inskeep as well as Logan Walter and Izzy Martinez each went 2-0 on the day. The rest of the points came from six different pairs spread across each of the two matches.
Julia Wesby and Elise Lenahan, Quinn Perry and Ashleigh Adams, and Dani Sparks and Bailey Showalter were pairs 3-5 against Tarleton State. Westby and Adams, Perry and Lenahan, and Peyton Dueck and Katie Clevenger were the other three pairs against Southern Miss.
Connor and Inskeep as well as Walter and Martinez finish the opening weekend with perfect 4-0 records.
Cal Poly will head to Los Angeles next weekend for the Battle for LA in which they will face two teams in the top five. On Friday Feb. 27, the Mustangs will take on Boise State at 12 p.m. before No. 1 UCLA at 2 p.m. Then on Saturday they face No. 4 USC at 10 a.m. and Concordia Irvine at 12 p.m.
