
No. 3 Mustangs Open Season with Pair of Sweeps

HOUSTON – Cal Poly beach volleyball got its 2026 season off to a strong start, collecting a pair of 5-0 victories Friday at the Third Coast College Classic in Houston.
The No. 3 Mustangs swept both Saint Mary’s and host Houston Christian 5-0. All 10 victories by Cal Poly duos were in straight sets.
The top two pairs of Izzy Martinez and Logan Walter as well as Erin Inskeep and Ella Connor were both 2-0 on the day.
In the Saint Mary’s match, head coach Todd Rogers paired senior transfer Julia Westby with sophomore Elise Lenahan at the No. 3 spot. He put junior Quinn Perry and senior Ashleigh Adams together at the No. 4 spot, and junior Katie Clevenger and sophomore Maddy Byrne together at the No. 5 spot. All three won in straight sets.
Against Houston Christian, Rogers changed things slightly. He paired Westby and Adams at the No. 3 spot, Perry and Faith Bartlett at the No. 4 spot, and graduate Peyton Dueck and redshirt freshman Hannah Byers at the No. 5 spot. All three of them also won in straight sets.
Cal Poly wraps up the opening weekend of play Saturday with two more matches. They will face Tarleton State at 6 a.m. PT before taking on Southern Miss at 10 a.m. PT.
