
Szeto, Kuszyk Earn All-Big West Praise

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Senior Baron Szeto became just the third four-time All-Big West honoree in Cal Poly men’s golf program history while freshman Nolan Kuszyk captured his first All-Big West award following the release of conference accolades Tuesday afternoon.
Szeto, selected to compete at the May 12-14 NCAA Regionals, led the Mustangs during the 2024-25 regular season with a 70.2 stroke average through 33 rounds while firing 18 rounds under par and a further 14 in the 60s. Kuszyk, meanwhile, was second with a 73.1 stroke average.
A two-time All-Big West second team honoree (2022, 2024) and an honorable mention pick in 2023, Szeto secured tournament titles at Wake Forest’s Lyon’s Links Invitational at Royal Dublin Golf Club (Sept. 18-20) and Ohio State’s Robert Kepler Invitational (April 18-19).
Aside from those victories, Szeto finished second at California’s Alister MacKenzie Invitational (Oct. 7-8), third at Western Kentucky’s Mesquite Desert Classic (Feb. 16-18), seventh at Fresno State’s Nick Watney Invitational (March 24-25) and 10th at Cal Poly’s own Preserve Golf Club Collegiate (Oct. 28-29).
Szeto is the third Mustang with four All-Big West selections following Travis Bertoni (2003-06) and Just De Los Santos (2014-17).
Kuszyk, who fired four rounds in the 60s, enjoyed three top-20 finishes during his first collegiate season highlighted by a career best fifth-place showing at Western Kentucky’s Mesquite Desert Classic. He also finished 15th at Wake Forest’s Lyon’s Links Invitational and 17th at Central Michigan’s Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational (March 24-25).
