No. 6 Mustangs Stretch Win Streak to 18 With Wins Over No. 3 LMU, No. 14 Stetson

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — The No. 6 ranked Cal Poly beach volleyball team kept its winning ways going Saturday with two more wins over ranked teams at the Best in the West in Laguna Beach.
The No. 6 Mustangs (20-2) took down No. 3 LMU by a score of 3-2 and No. 14 Stetson 4-1 to push their win streak to 18, the longest in the country and the longest win streak in program history.
Similar to Cal Poly’s win Friday over No. 2 UCLA, the Mustangs had a dramatic win over No. 3 LMU Saturday morning. With the duel tied 2-2, it came down to a third set at the No. 3 spot. In that match, the Mustang duo of Quinn Perry and Lindsey Sparks came out on top in the third set 16-14 to clinch the duel victory. Cal Poly also got wins in that match from its No. 1 pair Erin Inskeep and Piper Ferch as well as the No. 5 duo of Abbey Reinard and Lindsey Sparks.
Ferch and Inskeep as well as Sparks and Perry were both 2-0 on the day. Ferch and Inskeep have now won five matches in a row and are 18-3 on the season.
Cal Poly will close out the Best in the West Sunday with two matches against Big West foes. The No. 6 Mustangs will face No. 11 Long Beach State at 9 a.m. followed by No. 17 Hawai’i at 11 a.m.
