SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – After having a stellar week last week, averaging 22 points per game, sophomore women’s basketball forward Mary Carter has been Big West Player of the Week.
Carter scored 17 points last Thursday to help the Mustangs take down Cal State Fullerton on the road. She then followed that up with a career-high 27 points in the regular season finale against Long Beach State on Saturday.
Carter was dialed in from three last week, knocking down five threes in each of the two games, shooting nearly 50 percent from beyond the arc for the week.
This is Carter’s first weekly award in her career. This season, she is averaging 13 points per game and is second in the Big West in field goal percentage.
She and the rest of the Mustangs will take on rival UCSB on Wednesday at 12 p.m. in the first round of the Big West Championships at Lee’s Family Forum in Henderson, Nev. The game will air live on ESPN+ and on radio on both ESPN Radio 1280AM and GoPoly.com.
