DALLAS – Cal Poly men’s golf freshmen Zihao Wang and Rafael Bobo-Lloret combined for five birdies during Sunday’s opening round at SMU’s Trinity Forest Invitational as the pair reside inside the top 50 on the leaderboard.
At the 7,617-yard, par-72 Trinity Forest Golf Club, Wang’s three birdies were balanced by three bogeys for an even-par 72 and a share of 28th place. Bobo-Lloret, meanwhile, produced a pair of birdies, but finished with a two-over 74 for 49th position.
Cal Poly junior Louis Pilod (above) claimed a birdie, but carded a four-over 76 for a split of 63rd place. Sophomore Nolan Kuszyk enjoyed two birdies before posting a six-over 78. Junior Reese Sato, meanwhile, is a shot behind Kuszyk despite recording three birdies.
As a program, Cal Poly shares 15th alongside UTRGV with a 12-over 300.
Round No. 2 at the Trinity Forest Invitational commences Monday morning.
