Mustangs Finish 13th at Toledo’s Inverness Intercollegiate

INVERNESS INTERCOLLEGIATE FINAL RESULTS: TEAM | INDIVIDUAL
TOLEDO, Ohio – With Tuesday's final round at Toledo's Inverness Intercollegiate highlighted by sophomore Louis Pilod's one-under 68, the Cal Poly men's golf program finished 13th at its 2024-25 season-opening tournament.
At the 6,972-yard, par-69 Inverness Club, Pilod (above) chalked up three birdies against two bogeys to climb 24 positions during Tuesday's final round. With a three-round, seven-over 214 (76-70-68), Pilod finished 39th.
Senior Baron Szeto produced two birdies Tuesday as part of a three-over 72 to finish in 50th overall with a nine-over 216 (75-69-72). Szeto shared 50th alongside fellow senior Jackson Parrish, who shot a four-over 73 Tuesday as part of his 216 (74-69-73).
Completing his first collegiate tournament, freshman Nolan Kuszyk carded a three-over 72 Tuesday to finish 59th with a 10-over 217 (76-69-72). Sophomore Leo Metzger, in his first tournament as a Mustang following an offseason transfer, recorded three birdies Tuesday, but posted a final-round 74 as part of a two-day, 12-over 219 (75-70-74).
As a program, Cal Poly opened the Inverness Invitational with a 300 during Monday morning's first round before going 23 shots better in the afternoon. The Mustangs fired a nine-over 285 Tuesday to finish with a three-round 862. In 13th position, Cal Poly was one shot back of 12th-placed Clemson and two behind Louisville.
Cal Poly next heads to England and Ireland as part of a two-week tour. The Mustangs will first play Royal Lytham & St. Annes – site of 11 British Opens – later this week before facing Maynooth University in match play on Monday, Sept. 16 at Portmarnock Golf Club in Portmarnock, Ireland. Cal Poly's tour concludes with Wake Forest's Lyons Links College Invitational, scheduled for Sept. 18-20 at The Royal Dublin Golf Club.
