No. 4 Mustangs Wrap Up Regular Season with Two More Wins

NEW ORLEANS – Cal Poly beach volleyball wrapped up its regular season strong Saturday, winning both of its matches over UAB and Louisiana-Monroe at the NOLA Classic in New Orleans to improve its record to 27-5.

The No. 4 Mustangs took down UAB by a score of 4-1 before later sweeping Louisiana-Monroe 5-0 to finish the NOLA Classic a perfect 4-0. Friday, Cal Poly beat Southern Miss and Tulane.

The pairs of Ella Connor and Izzy Martinez, Piper Ferch and Erin Inskeep, and Piper Naess and Logan Walter all won in both matches Saturday. Ferch and Inskeep as well as Naess and Walter were both 4-0 for the weekend.

Ferch and Inskeep end the regular season with a 26-4 record together and finished winning seven straight matches.

Naess and Walter are now an incredible 21-3 as a duo this season and have won their last 18 matches.

At 27-5, the Mustangs now head into next week's Big West Championship as the No. 1 seed looking to win the Big West title for the fourth time in the last five years. The tournament takes place April 25-26 in Long Beach at Long Beach City College.
