No. 4 Mustangs Begin Final Regular Season Weekend with Wins Over Southern Miss, Tulane

NEW ORLEANS — After moving up in the rankings this week to No. 4 in the rankings this week, Cal Poly beach volleyball kept its winning ways going Friday, kicking off the NOLA Classic with 3-2 wins over both Southern Miss and Tulane.
Starting the day against the Golden Eagles, Cal Poly's No. 5 pair of Abbey Reinard and Madi Nichols won their match in dominant fashion, 21-4, 21-12. At the No. 3 spot, Piper Naess and Logan Walter took care of business 21-13, 21-12.
Playing at the No. 1 spot for this match, the duo of Piper Ferch and Erin Inskeep were the third point for the Mustangs after winning 21-11, 21-16.
A few hours later, the Mustangs were back on the sand to face the host school Tulane. Against the Green Wave, who received votes in this week's AVCA rankings, Ferch and Inskeep won again, this time at the No. 2 spot 21-10, 21-14.
Naess and Walter also were victorious again, at the No. 4 spot against the Green Wave. They won an epic battle, 21-14, 20-22, 19-17.
Cal Poly's third point came from the No. 3 pair of Lindsey Sparks and Quinn Perry after they won their match 21-15, 21-11.
The Mustangs will continue the NOLA Classic Saturday taking on UAB at 8:30 a.m. PT followed by Louisiana-Monroe at 11:15 a.m. PT.
