Tinker Wins Bracket at Patriots Last Chance Open

FAIRFAX, Va. — Trevor Tinker and Michael Goldfeder officially wrapped up the regular season for the Cal Poly wrestling program on Sunday by competing in the Patriots Last Chance Open hosted by George Mason.
While competing in a round-robin format in their respective weight classes, Tinker posted a perfect 3-0 mark to capture first in the 285-pound B bracket, while Goldfeder went 2-1 in the 165-pound C bracket to place second.
Tinker, a 2023 NCAA at-large qualifier, was dominant on the mat Sunday, earning a pair of technical fall victories over Drexel's Shane Whitney (16-1, 5:22) and Buffalo's Magnus Bibla (17-0, 2:47) before pinning George Mason's Colin Pedersen at 1:43 in his final bout at the event. Tinker improved to 12-3 on the season with the performance and now has four wins by technical fall this year and three by fall.
Goldfeder dropped a tight 5-3 decision to Indiana's Mason Alley to open the tourney, before bouncing back with victories by decision and major decision.
Next up for the Mustangs is the Pac-12 Championships hosted by Oregon State on Sunday, March 10.
