Jake Steels and Joe Yorke each had three hits for the Mustangs (1-2), while Yorke, Evan Cloyd and freshman Alejandro Garza all had two RBIs. Junior catcher Ryan Stafford had two hits and an RBI.
Yorke's two RBIs moved him into the top 10 in program history for career RBIs with his 130th.
On the pitching side, senior starter Ryan Baum threw 3 2/3 innings with four strikeouts and gave up four earned runs. Cal Poly used five relievers the rest of the game.
Meanwhile, Missouri had 13 hits and also had three players with at least two RBIs.
Cal Poly got off to a good start in their home half of the first. After the first two batters struck out, Yorke singled before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Cloyd then singled to right to drive in Yorke and put the Mustangs on the board first, advancing to second on a throwing error.
Dylan Kordic then reached on an error that got by the Tigers' (2-1) third baseman which scored Cloyd to give Cal Poly a 2-0 lead. Missouri got on the scoreboard in the second with back-to-back two out doubles to cut the Cal Poly lead to 2-1.
In the third, Missouri tied it after an RBI double by Thomas Curry scored a runner from first. Following a balk that advanced Curry to third, Danny Corona grounded out to first base but allowed Curry to score and give the Tigers the 3-2 lead.
In Cal Poly's half of the third, the Mustangs accounted for five hits. Steels and Stafford both singled to begin the inning to put runners on the corners. Yorke then drove in Steels on a sac fly to center field to tie the game. Cloyd followed with a single through the left side to bring in Stafford and put the Mustangs in front 4-3.
Missouri tied it in the fourth after third baseman Justin Colon led off the inning with a solo home run to left. The Tigers later got the bases loaded with two outs after Baumwas relieved by freshman Ethan Marmie. Marmie allowed two runs via a hit by pitch and a wild pitch as the Tigers went in front 6-4. Freshman pitcher Caden Pearlman then came in as the Tigers went on to score three more runs in the inning and stretch their lead 9-4.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Mustangs put a two out rally together. Following a Steels single, catcher Ryan Stafford doubled to left center to drive in Steels. Yorke then singled to right to score Stafford and cut into the Missouri lead 9-6.
Missouri extended its lead to 11-6 in the sixth following an RBI triple by center fielder Jeric Curtis. Curtis then came into score after Mustang reliever Cam Hoiland was called for a balk.
With the bases loaded and one out in the seventh, Garza doubled to left to score two runs and get Cal Poly back within three at 11-8. However, the Mustangs were unable to string anymore runs together.
