SAN LUIS OBISPO – Bringing international success from both the professional and amateur levels to the Cal Poly men’s golf program, Zihao Wang (Zhuhai, China) recently signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Mustangs ahead of the 2025-26 season.
“Zihao brings a competitive edge,” Cal Poly head coach Phil Rowe said. “He’s competed against professionals in China from a young age and has proven he knows what it takes to win, capturing two professional event titles and a high-level China junior national championship.”
Having secured three wins and 18 top 10 finishes during his last two years on various amateur and professional tours in China, Wang reached the match play round of 32 at the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur at Oakland Hills CC.
Winner of the 2024 China Junior Golf Classic in a playoff and the professional CLPGQ Gionee Zhaoqing Series 4 (68-72-66) and Series 5 (70-70-69) events, Wang – at No. 504 in the World Golf Amateur Rankings – is Cal Poly’s highest WAGR signee to date.
Wang, who intends to major in business administration, is also ranked No. 63 in the class of 2025 and No. 5 in the class of 2025 international listing.
We’re thrilled to officially welcome Zihao Wang to the Mustangs Family!
