Dolezal Secures Second in a Pair of Dives at CSUB Invites

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Despite just six total Mustang divers participating in the CSUB Sprint Classic and Roadrunner Invitational, Cal Poly's men and women competed hard in their first head-to-head diving action of the 2024-25 season with a number of notable efforts.
The clear highlight of the weekend for Cal Poly was Justin Dolezal who, though not quite catching his winning scores from last weekend, put together a 293.00 point performance in the 1-meter dive and 292.05 in the 3-meter.
That ended up being good enough for not only a second place finish in the respective events but Dolezal also topped Cal State Bakersfield's Dyson Modica and Anderson Laing who bested him in last season's invitationals. During the 1-meter, Dolezal came within 7 points of two-time Summit League Men's Diver of the Year Zyad Morsy as the Mustang diver still gave Morsy a tough run.
True freshman Lucas Lehrer, who won the 3-meter last weekend in San Luis Obispo, came up some way short of his season-high 1-meter score but still placed seventh of nine divers (210.60). Lehrer put up 246.25 points in the 3-meter.
The leading 3-meter divers for Cal Poly's women last weekend flipped their order as Ava Lazovsky (220.65) placed 7th among 21 total divers and Ava Geronimo followed closely behind her with 218.30 points in 9th place. During the 3-meter KellyAnn Lim (181.95) and Myl Lauc (168.20) book-ended the pack but still finished ahead of the bottom two divers. Lazovsky closed out the tournament with an 11th place finish in the 1-meter with 204.20 points.
Cal Poly swimming and diving will now take a large break from head-to-head competition as the program comes home for a pair of Green and Gold events, which includes an Alumni meet. The next NCAA competition will take place in late November with the NAU Invite.
