2023 U.S. AMATEUR LEADERBOARD
PARKER, Colo. – Cal Poly men's golf senior Joey Zambri and junior Jackson Parrish (above) completed second-round action at the 123rd United States Amateur Championship Tuesday but, following first-day 82s, both missed the cut at Cherry Hills Country Club.
With the field trimmed from 312 qualifiers to 64 for Wednesday's first day of match play, Parrish rebounded from Monday's opening round to card an even-par 72 that comprised five birdies, just three bogeys and one double bogey. He finished the opening nine holes one under par before going one over on the back half.
Zambri, meanwhile, recorded three birdies on his scorecard. The Camarillo, Calif., native, however, finished with three double bogeys, one quadruple bogey and an 84.
Parrish reached the U.S. Amateur after winning medalist honors during his July sectional qualifying tournament at Boulder Creek Golf Club (Boulder Creek, Nev.). Zambri, meanwhile, was runner-up during his sectional qualifier at Crystalaire Country Club (Llano, Calif.).
Cal Poly previously had multiple U.S. Amateur qualifiers in 2018 with Thomas Lehman and current graduate student Austin Liu competing at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
