Jackson Parrish, Joey Zambri Qualify for 2023 U.S. Amateur

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Fueled by four combined rounds of 67 or below to complete their sectional tournaments, Cal Poly men's golfers Jackson Parrish (left) and Joey Zambri (right) both qualified for the 123rd United States Amateur Championship, scheduled for Aug. 14-20 at Cherry Hills Country Club in Parker, Colo.A junior from Henderson, Nev., Parrish qualified for the 2023 U.S. Amateur by following an opening-round 63 at Boulder Creek Golf Club (Boulder Creek, Nev.) with a second-day 67. His 14-under-par 130 secured winning medalist honors.
Zambri, a senior from Camarillo, Calif., finished as runner-up in his sectional qualifier at Crystalaire Country Club (Llano, Calif.). Zambri's 11-under-par 133 comprised an opening-day 67 and a second-round 66 to reach the U.S. Amateur with a four-stroke cushion.
Zambri also qualified for the 2019 U.S. Amateur at Pinehurst Resort. Cal Poly previously had multiple U.S. Amateur qualifiers in 2018 with Thomas Lehman and Austin Liu competing at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The 2023 U.S. Amateur opens on Monday, Aug. 14 with the first of two days of 18-hole stroke play. The field of 312 will then be cut to 64 players for five successive days of match play. The amateur winner will be determined on Sunday, Aug. 20 following a 36-hole championship match. U.S. Amateur action will be broadcast on Peacock, the Golf Channel and NBC.
