SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Louis Pilod, selected to play for the U16 and U18 French National Team and a member of the Performance Center of Terre Blanche has signed a National Letter of Intent to further his academic and golfing careers at Cal Poly.
A 2022 graduate of Lycée de Terre Blanche, a high school in The Federal Performance Center, majoring in mathematics and economics, Pilod has earned four top-20 finishes this year, led by a second-place finish in the French Masters at the Coupe Frayssineau-Mouchy in Fontainbleau with rounds of 70, 68, 72 and 70.
Pilod also placed ninth in the French Championship at Coupe-Ganay in Granville and 16th-place finishes in the French International Championship at Les Aisses and the Pro Golf Tour's Little Venice Red Sea Open.
He competed full category on the professional Alps Tour in 2022 and owns a best of No. 9 in the French Amateur rankings.
Other activities enjoyed by Pilod include playing the clarinet, both solo and in an orchestra, membership in a scouting group and a member of the Saint-Gervais Ski Club in the French Alps.
Born in Paris, Pilod's hometown is Lyon, France. His home course is the Golf Club Lyon with a handicap of +3,4. Pilod, who will major in economics at Cal Poly, said he chose to be a Mustang because of "California, facilities, Coach (Phil) Rowe and the quality of academics."
Pilod also made an official visit to UNLV before choosing Cal Poly. His career ambition is to play on the PGA Tour and his hobbies include all sports. He plans to go hiking in the mountains and spend time with family and friends "before the big jump!"
A cousin of Pilod, Kathryn Webb, played tennis at Cal Poly from 2011-15.
Cal Poly signed Reese Sato of Folsom, Calif., to an NLI in early November.
