Former Cal Poly outfielder Nick Torres owns a .335 career batting average in four seasons in the Mexican League, currently hitting .355 for the Laguna Vaqueros.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Nick Torres continues to tear up the Mexican League at the plate.
In his fourth season in the Mexican League, the former Cal Poly outfielder is hitting .355 with 43 hits in 32 games for the Vaqueros de la Laguna. He has hit six home runs with 22 RBIs and has produced 11 multiple-hit games so far this season, including four games of three or more hits.
Hitting .382 in the month of May, Torres currently has a .335 career batting average in the Mexican League, including a .377 mark last summer, .311 in 2021 and .315 in 2019. The 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Torres played in the San Diego Padres organization for four years after he was drafted in the fourth round in 2014.
Brooks Lee is hitting .268 with a
six-game hitting streak at Wichita.
Meanwhile, infielder Brooks Lee is hitting .268 for the Double-A Wichita Wind Surge in the Texas League with four home runs and 19 RBIs in 42 games. He currently has a six-game hitting streak with 10 hits in 25 at-bats (.400), including four doubles and a home run, bumping his average up 23 points.
Bryan Woo sports a 3-2 record and 2.05 ERA for the Double-A Arkansas Travelers, also in the Texas League, earning victories against Northwest Arkansas on May 11, Wichita on May 21 and Frisco on May 28. He struck out a season-high 10 in six innings versus Wichita, including Brooks Lee once.
Another former Mustang pitcher, Drew Thorpe, is 3-1 with a 3.92 ERA at Hi-A Hudson Valley. His victories were versus Greenville on April 30, Aberdeen on May 14 and Wilmington on May 28. Thorpe also pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in a no-decision against Brooklyn on May 21.
Outfielder Bradlee Beesley is hitting .250 at Double-A Tennessee, going 8-for-11 with a pair of three-hit games in a three-game stretch May 20-23 to lift his average 64 points.
Andrew Alvarez is 2-1 with a 3.65 ERA at Hi-A Wilmington with victories over Hickory and Jersey Shore.
Cal Poly has three players currently on Major League rosters.
Outfielder Mitch Haniger, hitting just .179 through his first 16 games with the San Francisco Giants, went 17-for-50 (.340) in a 12-game stretch from May 17-29, hiking his average up 76 points to .255. Included in the run were four doubles, two home run and 11 RBIs.
Southpaw Justin Bruihl is on the Los Angeles Dodgers' roster and has appeared in 14 games, all in relief, after giving up no runs in nine innings over seven appearances on the mound at Oklahoma City.
Spencer Howard is on the Texas Rangers' 40-man roster but is on the 60-day injured list with a lat injury. He pitched for the first time this season in a rehab assignment for Round Rock on Tuesday and struck out four over two scoreless, hitless innings in relief, touching 96.6 mph with his fastball.
Pitcher Erich Uelmen made one appearance on the mound for the Philadelphia Phillies during his recent call-up and allowed four runs (one earned) and two hits with two walks and a strikeout in one inning against his former team, the Chicago Cubs, on May 19. He was sent back to Lehigh Valley the next day.
Uelmen is 1-1 with a 2.19 ERA in 10 mound stints at Lehigh Valley.
Utility player Mark Mathias played in 15 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates from April 10 through May 7, hitting .275 with two doubles and four RBIs, before he was sent back to Indianapolis, where he is hitting .298 with five doubles, two home runs and 10 RBIs.
Mathias is 8-for-15 (.533) in his last four games at Indianapolis.
Ex-Mustangs in Triple-A include Mathias, Uelmen, Alex McKenna (Sugar Land), Taylor Dollard (Tacoma) and Nick Meyer (Syracuse) while Woo (Arkansas), Beesley (Tennessee) and Lee (Wichita) are in Double-A.
